Puneeta Chhitwal-Varma is an author, speaker, food advocate and mom living in Toronto, Canada.

Puneeta believes the heart of the home beats in the kitchen, and that food is more than just fuel. She believes that sustainability is far easier than we have been led to believe and that eating good food can be uncomplicated and accessible.

Puneeta appears regularly on TV as a food advocate and sustainability expert. She and her food have appeared on numerous prominent national and international media including CTV’s The Social, CHCH Morning Live, Global News, CBC Radio, BBC World News, CBC Life, and Martha Stewart.

Her blog, Maple and Marigold started in 2016 as a love letter. Maple represents Canada, and marigold refers to her roots in India. Through media appearances, workshops, cooking demos, and food writing, Puneeta has built a loyal platform that is moving people towards delicious, good-for-you, good-for-the-planet habits.

Puneeta never leaves home without her reusable coffee cup. She has one stashed away in her purse and the car. There’s even a foldable one in her laptop bag that her kids gave her for Mother’s Day last year.

In the kitchen, Puneeta loves experimenting with cross-cultural ingredients and techniques. Golden mashed potatoes, anyone? The secret? A good pinch of haldi (turmeric).
