Raising Girls – It’s more than sugar and spice

Raising girls - it is more than sugar and spice | Laundry Hacks | House and Home | Maple and MarigoldLife would be boring if we were all the same, wouldn’t it?

I have two girls who are as different as they come. One loves her long curly hair and the thrills of ultimate frisbee. The other loves frilly skirts and has yet to meet a wall she couldn’t climb. And even though I have some experience in this arduous process, I am a girl after all, I am learning something new about being a mom every day.

Raising girls is as much about picking noses as doing glitter craft. Wearing pink ballet shoes, and wrestling at the same time! Yes, my kids wrestle in their spare time and they love it, mostly because it’s the only time they can hit each other without having to say sorry.

Despite their shared gene pool and all this play together my kids couldn’t be more different if they tried. Where they do share common ground is in being messy.

Raising kids, whether boys or girls, is a smelly, stinky and occasionally sticky job. It’s a challenge to keep clothes, dance costumes and sporting equipment looking and smelling clean That’s why you will find an open box of Arm & Hammer baking soda in our hallway closet all year long. The baking soda absorbs those sweaty musty odours that seem to accompany active kids.

The other challenge is the laundry – piles and piles of it. Motherhood has taught me many things one of which is how much work it takes to have clean clothes. And since I like to spend as little effort as possible in doing my laundry I am always on the lookout for shortcuts. That’s why I was glad to discover Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean 3-in-1 Power Paks. These paks contain detergent and are boosted with the stain fighting power of OxiClean and the freshness of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. That means I don’t have to sprinkle or spray to remove stains, just toss the 3-in-1 Power Paks in the washer and get on with life.

People tell me that it must be so nice to have girls, “they must love pretty clothes and giving hugs.” I admit raising girls is all of that and so much more, and I’m glad to to have help on the way.

You can try the NEW Arm & Hammer™ Plus OxiClean™ 3-in-1 Unit Dose Paks as well by visiting your closest Loblaws store. Test this detergent on your family’s laundry this weekend, and share the results on social media if you like using the hashtag #AHFreshPerspective. There are also special discount coupons available here.
